SONY VAIO G1

What’s the latest about Sony when we talk of notebooks?

Sony Vaio G1 is Sony’s world's lightest full-featured 12 inch notebook launched in Japan. Features include a remarkable 12.1" XGA TFT, 1.2 GHz Core Solo, 1.5GB max RAM, 80 GB HDD, and a Carbon Fiber Casing. It also includes a quiet fan and a 17mm key pitch keyboard, and dual-internal wifi antennas to improve reception. And an integrated Bluetooth, Firewire, 2 x USB 2.0, and VGA.

Sony did it by using carbon fiber! Sony did have past experiences with carbon fiber notebooks. Carbon fiber is a complex material to work with however Sony has built expertise. As a background, carbon fiber is light, strong, good at heat dissipation, and rigid. The Vaio G1's top and bottom external casing is multi-layer carbon fiber and the palm rest is carbon mold. The casing is very durable and should be able to withstand 120kg of weight. But you should take it with care for longer life.

So for those who travels a lot for businesses why not having one? After all it also includes unlimited toll-free tech phone and email support, and a one year Fedex rescue service warranty.
